Set Me Free Project to Present in Wahoo Mar. 8 on human trafficking awareness
CEO/President Stephanie Olson addresses topic that affects all corners of USA
Sex trafficking is modern day slavery. It is defined as force, fraud or coercion of a person for another person's profit. It is the second largest crime in the world. It is a multi billion dollar industry that is rapidly growing.
It is estimated that there are 21 million trafficked victims worldwide (this includes labor trafficking). It is estimated that at least 100,000 women and children in the United States are victims of sex trafficking every year. It happens in every state.
This is not a crime only to women; boys are victims also. The average age of entry for girls is 12-14, for boys age 11. Traffickers have many different tactics to lure their victims. You and your children need to be aware of the warning signs, as this crime has no boundaries. Anyone's child can become a victim.
