Wahoo Elementary's Warrior Dads program sees increased popularity & involvement

Initiative provides positive role models to students & added security to school

The Warrior Dads program aims to provide positive male role models for the students, demonstrating by their presence that education is important, and to provide extra sets of eyes and ears to enhance school security and reduce bullying. There are many wonderful benefits to this program. Through it, the students gain positive male role models and the father figures are able to get a glimpse of their students’ everyday world. They will be able to learn about the increasingly complex challenges and decisions today’s youth are facing and, as a result, they can learn to relate better to their student and make lasting connections with them. 

Warrior Dads are fathers, grandfathers, uncles, and other father-figures or male role models, who volunteer for at least one day (7:45am - 3:15pm) each school year. During the day, Warrior Dads may be asked to read and work on flash cards with students, play at recess, eat lunch with students, watch the school entrances and hallways, assist with traffic flow and any other assigned activities where they actively engage with, not only their own students, but other students, as well.

So, get excited Warrior Dads because, with your help, this program can continue to be a huge success! We can’t wait for you to get involved! To become a Warrior Dad, you must first complete a background check, which is located in the elementary office.
