Wahoo Chess Club ends the season with success at Fremont ChessFest
Warriors bring home 5 first-place trophies, 5 runners-up, and 3 third-place finishes

The Wahoo Chess Club ended its season by competing on Saturday, April 30 at the Fremont ChessFest held at Fremont High School.
Wahoo had a lot of success with many students earning trophies by finishing in the top three of their division.
Winning first place trophies for Wahoo were Westen Pokorny, William Mortensen, Vander Hendriksen, Evan Reynolds, and Kaden Arehart.
Capturing second place awards were Calder Simonsen, August Waggoner, Zach Mahrous, Evie Nygren, and Jamison Svoboda.
Placing third were Tiger Bartek, Kyler Strait, and Kate Lienemann.
Tori Buell, Gavin Hood, Amillya Alley, Jalen Ganaan, and MckInley Pflanz also competed for Wahoo.
“The ChessFest is always a fun tournament, and all the students enjoyed themselves,” said Chess Club Sponsor Larry Fangman.
