The Wahoo Chess Club competed in its first competition this year at North American Martyrs on Jan. 25. Warriors left the event with two first place, three second place, and four third place medals!

Warrior Chess Club enjoys success at first season meet

Gabe Harris & Ales Adamec take championships in their divisions; Jesse Stebbing, Marshall Strom & Barrett Nelson take runner-up!

The Wahoo Chess Club competed for the first time this year at North American Martrys in Lincoln on January 25. Students competed in divisions with five to ten other competitors.

Wahoo Middle School 8th grader Gabe Harris and 7th grader Ales Adamec both captured first place for Wahoo! 

Students finishing in 2nd place were Jesse Stebbing, Marshall Strom, and Barrett Nelson. Students winning 3rd place trophies were Jaymes Gaskins, Caden Plouzek, William Mortensen, and Evan Reynolds. 

These Wahoo Chess Club members also participated at the meet: Nathan Urban, Parker Thompson, Patrick Adamec, Hailey Pfligler, and Marshall Strom.

Wahoo will compete next at the K-8 State Team Championships at Boys Town on February 22.
