Talbert selected for 2015 UNL Tuba Day!
WHS senior selected among state-wide auditions to rehearse with Husker Marching Band & perform at Memorial Stadium halftime show
Tuba Day 2015 Follow Up:
At last Friday’s UNL Football Game, 50 high school tuba players from five states joined the Cornhusker Marching Band for their halftime show. One student traveled as far as from Maryland!
The tuba-heavy band entertained the audience with Megan Trainor’s "All About That Bass" and "Uptown Funk" by Mark Ronson.
Wahoo High School Student Cole Talbert was one of the 50 selected tuba players. After spending the day rehearsing, Talbert suited up in his school marching band uniform. The tuba players paraded with the Cornhusker Marching Band into Memorial Stadium and performed for 90,000 screaming fans.
When asked about the performance, Talbert commented, “It was an amazing experience. I was happy to experience something I hope to be a part of next year. It was exciting to represent Wahoo in front of so many people.”
This event did come at a cost to Cole. The game was the same night as Wahoo’s Homecoming Dance. When asked about it Talbert said, “I felt it was worth it because that is what I want to do in the future.”

Wahoo High School senior Cole Talbert has been selected to be a participant in the University of Nebraska at Lincoln's first ever Tuba Day!
On Saturday, September 12, Talbert will travel to UNL to participate in a full day rehearsal to prepare for the event.
Talbert will have the opportunity to work in master class with Professor Craig Fuller, rehearse in Kimball Recital Hall, rehearse marching with the Cornhusker Marching Band, and that is just the beginning!
That evening he will also suit up and perform in Memorial Stadium during the halftime time show of the football game against South Alabama. The show will feature hit tunes "All About That Bass" and "Uptown Funk."
This is an exciting opportunity for the 50 chosen high school tuba players from across Nebraska. It isn't every day that someone has the chance to perform for 90,000 screaming fans! Congratulations to Cole and good luck!
