Wahoo Elem. sets up "The Giving Tree" in lobby

Service project seeks donations for annual V.F.W. Christmas Drive

Students, families, community members, and staff are being invited to participate in a project that we are calling “The Giving Tree” (The Giving Tree is a book written by Shel Silverstein).

Our “Giving Tree” will be located near the office of Wahoo Elementary and will be used to display donated items that will be given to the Annual V.F.W. Christmas Drive prior to Christmas.

Items that are collected will be given to local families in need.

Our “Giving Tree” project will take place from Wednesday, November 11 through Wednesday, December 16, 2015.

Please spread the word to friends, family members, and neighbors who might like to participate and help with our project. Any donated items should be new and unwrapped. All clothing items, toys, and gifts for either a boy or girl can range in ages from birth to 16 years of age.

Ideas for Donated Items:

Help us decorate the branches of our “Giving Tree” by donating mittens, gloves, stocking hats, scarves, socks, hair ribbons, toothbrushes, gift cards, etc.

Help us decorate the base of our “Giving Tree” by filling it with larger items such as cans or boxes of food, coats, clothing, toys, etc.

Ideas for Gifts per Age Range:

Infant/Toddler: Puzzles, Hard-covered Books, Building Blocks, Stuffed Animals, Blankets, Trucks, Musical Instruments for Toddlers, Riding Toys, Push Toys, Baby Dolls and Clothes

Children Ages 3-6: Baby Dolls or Barbies, Puzzles, Books, Blankets, Developmental Board Games (Counting Games), Arts and Crafts Sets, Race Cars, Legos, Dress Up Clothes, Children’s Videos or DVDs, and Clothes

Children Ages 7-12: Board Games, Books, Purses and Wallets, Art Sets, Blankets, Sports Equipment, Barbie Dolls, Arts and Crafts Sets, Legos, Journals, Model Car Kits, Jewelry, and Clothes

Teens Ages 13-16: Books, Journals, Bath and Body Gifts, Blankets, Make Up Sets, Sports Equipment, Purses and Wallets, Jewelry and Watches, Art Supply Kits, Gift Certificates to Wal-Mart or Target, DVD’s, and Clothes.
