After a two-year Covid hiatus, Nebraska's Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) were finally able to meet in person again for the 2022 State FBLA Leadership Conference.

This year‘s April 11-13 conference was held at a new location, the Younes Conference Center in Kearney. Over 1,700 attended the conference, 1,500 of which were high school students. Thirteen students and Adviser Barb Shanahan attended from Wahoo High School.

One of the main purposes of the conference is to test students' knowledge in various areas of business. Some of these tests are objective, and some are performance based. For example, Business Ethics, in which our girls' team placed seventh, was both an objective test and a presentation. The students took the objective test prior to the conference and the top eight scorers moved on to present to judges at the conference.

Wahoo had six students that received recognition at the conference. Ben Thrasher placed second in Business Calculations and eighth in Personal Finance. Gavin Pokorny placed third in Accounting, fourth in Business Calculations, and Honorable Mention in Personal Finance. Luke Polacek placed third in Health Care Administration and Honorable Mention in Business Calculations. Mya Larson, Autumn Iversen, and Taylor Luben teamed up and placed seventh in Business Ethics.

Those placing third or better at this state conference qualify to compete in June at the National FBLA Conference in Chicago.

In addition to the testing, students elected their State FBLA Officers, attended opening and awards sessions, seminars, and enjoyed a fun night at the Big Apple Fun Complex that consisted of bowling and putt putt golf! It was a busy, yet exciting three days!

Congratulations Warrior FBLA!
