Wahoo staff & students to participate in Broadway review show
"On Broadway" takes to Wahoo's stage March 12 & 13
BROADWAY IS COMING TO WAHOO!
Staff and students from Wahoo Public Schools will be dancing and singing their way across the stage this coming weekend in this exciting show. On Broadway is a musical review of a variety of songs from different Broadway musicals.
Soloists featured in the show will be WMS/WHS Family and Consumer Science Teacher Carrie Mullendore-Dilsaver and WHS Resource Teacher Stephanie Smaus. Both staff members will be featured with solos from the musicals Godspell and Rent.
WMS 6th grader Sydney Barnes will perform a solo in this weekend's On Broadway performances!
Also taking part in the show are Wahoo Middle School students Sydney Barnes, Olivia Rustermier and Kennedy Wobker. Elementary students who will also be featured are Anthony Rowe, Samantha Norris, Korbyn Ferguson, Avery Johnson, Rosie Otte and Kennedy Johnson.
Many of the students will be showing off their vocal skills with featured solos. Sydney Barnes, who just won the title of Nebraska Superstar 2016, will perform with the repertoire that won her that title.
Hannah Thulin from St. Wenceslaus Elementary will also be participating in the show and will sing a solo from the ever-so-popular musical The Sound of Music.
Special guest performers from Erin Harmon’s Brownie Troop 50497 will also be featured in the song “Hard Knock Life” from Annie. Students who will be participating will be Addison Bohaty, Allex Harmon, Elizabeth Brennen, Clara Sherman, Taylar Shull, Kadence Nelson, Riley Koranda, Samantha Hill and Rylee Harmon. The girl scouts' participation will allow the girls to earn a badge in the performing arts while giving them a chance to experience theatre in a grand way with lights, sound, a live band and costumes.
Accompanying the cast of On Broadway will be former student Ben Wotipka on drums, as well as fellow band mates James Sauceda on bass, James Shinkle on piano and Logan Krug on guitar. The group has played several shows together at Midland University and are excited to come together once again to play at the Wahoo Performance Learning Center. Wotipka is no stranger to the Wahoo stage as he played drums for many WHS productions before graduating.
This is a show that you don’t want to miss! Come out and see the amazing talent the staff and students of our community as BROADWAY COMES TO WAHOO!!
