The Wahoo Boys Basketball team will begin State Tournament play on Thursday, March 8. They will play the Ashland-Greenwood Bluejays for the third time this season. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m. at Pershing Auditorium in Lincoln. Should the Warriors win Thursday, they would then play at 9:00 p.m. on Friday, March 9, at the Bob Devaney Sports Center. Should the Warriors advance to the championship game on Saturday, March 10, they would also play at 9:00 p.m. at the Devaney Sports Center. Following is information regarding state tournament play:

ADMISSION TICKETS:

The same general admission ticket will be used at all sites. A session ticket is good for the specified session at one site only (For example, a person cannot buy a general admission ticket and gain admittance at more than one site during a session.). Ticket prices are $7.00/adult, $5.00/students. Tickets may be pre-purchased at the high school office. This may be a convenient way to gain admission into the game(s). Tickets will be available for sale on Monday, March 5, and will be available at both nights of parent teacher conferences. After the contest on Thursday, individuals will have the opportunity to pre-purchase tickets through the high school office for Friday and Saturday games, should we advance.

STATE TOURNAMENT T-SHIRTS:

Wahoo Boys Basketball 2007 State Tournament T-Shirts may be purchased at each of the school's offices (elementary, middle school, high school). T-Shirts are white with blue ink on back and blue and gold front. Cost: $10/short sleeve, $12.00/long sleeve. Sizes: youth; small (6-8), medium (10-12), and large (14-16), adult: small, medium, large, XL, 2XL (add $1.00). Design of the t-shirt is attached. T-Shirt Order Forms Are Due By Monday, March 5 by 10:00 a.m.

TRANSPORTATION:

Wahoo Public Schools will provide bus transportation to the state tournament games for high school and middle school students. Students will need to pre-register for this "Pep Bus" transportation through their respective school office. Students will be charged $1.00 per game to be transported by bus. Students will need to pre-register and pre-pay for Thursday's contest. Students will be required to register as an "intent to travel by school bus" for Friday and Saturday's contests. Students must provide payment prior to boarding the bus for these trips. Registration will be handled on a first come, first serve basis until buses are at capacity. High school students will be allowed to register first. Leave and return times will be announced at a later date.

SPECTATOR SEATING:

Please follow signs and postings regarding our seating areas and sections. These will be clearly posted and displayed at each site. In addition, announcements will be made regarding our seating procedures. Due to the fact that we are not playing the first game in a given session, students will not be allowed to access student seating areas until the prior game is completed. Students: please follow your administrator's directives at the game sites.

CONDUCT OF STUDENT BODY AND GENERAL SPECTATORS:

-The students and team followers are expected to exhibit sportsmanlike behavior during the tournament. Any person becoming disorderly will be removed from the game site.

Fire Precautions. Shredded paper, punch-outs from computer cards, and confetti should not be carried into the gymnasiums by your pep club and student body. The fire marshal has directed us not to permit materials of this type in the various sites. Please help us by telling your student body not to bring confetti, shredded paper, or computer card punch-outs to the tournament.

Signs and Banners.  Signs and banners that are not directed at the opposition and are not derogatory in nature may be placed on walls behind the seating areas. These signs or banners will not be permitted on walls or the stands near the playing floor. Signs, banners, and school flags should not be carried around the floor. Signs that are not political, obscene, or in bad taste may be posted within the playing facility as long as the signs do not interfere with the spectators' view of the game or with the playing of the game.

Artificial Noisemakers.  The use of artificial noisemakers is prohibited (Examples: air horns, whistles, bells, Thunder Sticks, etc.). Megaphones are to be used by cheerleaders only. Band instruments, including drums, are not to be played at any time other than when the entire band is playing.

If you have any questions regarding the State Tournament play, please contact Wahoo Public Schools Activities Director Jason Libal at 443-3101, or jlibal@esu2.org.
