WHS One Act - Conference Winner
"The Chronicles of Jane" places first at Capitol Conference One Act Play Contest
The Wahoo High School drama department took first place at the Capitol Conference One Act Contest held at Raymond Central on Monday, November 15. In addition to receiving first place, Kyle DeBoer received the overall outstanding actor award for the conference. Others receiving outstanding recognition include Ashley Brazda, Bret Elliott, and Jesse Sabatka.
The One Act play, The Chronicles of Jane, Book Seven is a story of Jane, played by Ashley Brazda, a typical teenager with a very high opinion of herself, She tells a story about the time she put off writing The Dreaded Term Paper until the night before the paper was due. Her friends and followers (the Groupies) portray her bedroom walls, her computer, power cord, and even Jane herself, as in the case of her friend poor hapless Norman, played by Kyle DeBoer.
Jane battles, in turn, the personifications of Procrastination, Sleepiness, Time, and the Nymphs of Slumber and she dreams of sharks (all enacted by the cast). When finally her term paper is complete, but not saved, in walks her evil brother Stewart, who threatens to pull the plug on her computer. Will Jane overcome these obstacles? Will her paper indeed be complete by the deadline??????
