Biology Students Find Creative Ways to Illustrate Animal Cells
While most of us spent our Labor Day weekend relaxing and hanging out, the biology class spent it hard at work. The biology class is learning about different components of the animal cell. For this assignment each student had to build their own cell model and this helped each one learn about the individual parts of a cell. Each student had to build a model that was edible. Many students struggled to find the right component to keep their materials together.
Freshman Lindsey N. said, "I learned about the parts of a cell structure by building my own."
Miss Mahler and Mr. Shannon graded these models with three specific areas in mind. The first area was graded by a presentation to her by explaining each part of the model. The second area was graded on the neatness of the model. By this, she could tell how much effort each student put into this. The third area was graded on how accurate the model was to the actually animal cell.
Miss Mahler said, "This project was designed to help the students visually see and create a model of what we learn about in class. Most of the students did an excellent job of using what we learned in their model."
