West Point    30

The Warrior JV boys improved to 4-0 after impressive wins over David City and West Point.

Wahoo outperformed the David City Scouts in a home contest 64-38.

Freshman Ben Scheef lead the way in scoring with 20 points. Scheef added 10 rebounds, 4 steals, and 4 assists to round out his dominant performance. Sophomore Tyler Kavan chipped in 18 points with 3 rebounds and 4 steals for a solid performance as well. However, it was the Warrior defense that took control of this game early and often. Wahoo forced 31 Scout turnovers which included 17 steals.

Wahoo then hit the road for a game against the West Point Cadets. The Warriors posted a dominant victory, 71-30.

The Warrior defense stole the show again forcing a season high 43 turnovers, which included 27 steals. Freshman Josh Langemeier took the lead in that department with 7 of those steals. Langemeier also led the team in scoring with 24 points.

The scoring was pretty evenly dispersed as sophomores Brook Stuart and Tyler Kavan and freshman Ben Scheef all had 9 points, while sophomore Jacob Moline chipped in 8 points as well.

So far, the Warrior JV defense has been dominant. Through four games they have forced an average of 30 turnovers per contest while averaging 20 steals. This type of high-energy defense has produced an average margin of victory of 27 points per contest.

The JV Warriors will look to improve on this dominance in two weekend contests: Friday, December 17 at home against the Fort Calhoun Pioneers and Saturday, December 18 in a road contest against the Centennial Broncos.

On Saturday, December 4, the JV boys looked to avenge a tough loss against the Seward Bluejays from a year ago.

Wahoo jumped ahead early, going in to half with a 31-19 lead, in spite of getting into some early foul trouble.

The Warriors continued their dominance in the 2nd half, pushing the final score to 61-37.

The Warriors had three players in double figures for the game: sophomore Tyler Kavan with 11 and freshmen Josh Langemeier and Ben Scheef with 12 and 10 points respectively. Kavan also chipped in with 5 and 3 steals while Scheef added 6 rebounds with 3 steals and 3 assists.

Through 2 games the Warriors are averaging 67 points a game and shooting 57% from the field while holding their opponents to 46 points. Wahoo is also forcing 23 turnovers a contest. The JV’s next contest will be a home contest against the David City Scouts on Tuesday, December 7 starting at 6:00 p.m.

The Wahoo JV Boys basketball team had a dominant showing in the first weekend of basketball.

They opened on the road on Friday, December 3, against the conference rival Bennington Badgers. Last year, the JV team won a very tight battle in a game that came down to clutch free throws. This year was a different story.

Wahoo’s defense created havoc within the Badger offense, forcing 22 turnovers. The Warrior defense was lead by sophomore Brook Stuart with 6 steals. Stuart also chipped in 15 points and 4 assists.

Wahoo also put together an offensive output of 73 points, led by freshman Ben Scheef with 19 points. Along with his score, Scheef had 5 rebounds and 3 assists. Also included in the double figure scoring was Sophomore Jacob Moline, who had 12 points and 4 steals in his efforts. Wahoo came out on top 73-55.
