Wahoo Public Schools Strategic Plan and External Review (2025-2026)
WPS School Community Members,
During the 25-26 school year, two important processes were completed from a school district and building level standpoint. These processes include the development of a District-Level Strategic Plan and hosting an External Review Team.
Strategic Planning Process and Goals
During the 24-25 school year, the WPS Board of Education and District Leadership/Continuous Improvement Team worked with the Nebraska Association of School Boards (NASB) to begin the process of developing a strategic plan with specific action items. NASB facilitated the process.
The purpose of the strategic planning process is to:
- Identify long-term strategic goals and break them into attainable actions for a period of time.
- Identify what actions need to be taken, who will be responsible, when the work will occur, how resources are needed, and how it will be communicated.
The process included:
- Community Engagement Meetings (1/13/25) to gain feedback from community members (points of pride, accomplishments, current and future challenges, key areas of focus going forward).
- A school community/stakeholder survey was sent out to collect feedback from a greater school community audience. (Winter 2025)
The finalized WPS Strategic Plan can be found HERE. As the Strategic Plan is updated, progress toward the identified goals will be shared with the Board of Education and School Community. The district admin team meets weekly and discusses a strategy from the strategic plan. The district leadership team will work through this process during the summer of 2026 to better align our current operations with NASB's recommendations, and provide a clear path forward for the district.
External Visit Information and Findings - Video of the Exit Presentation (32 minutes)
As part of our ongoing commitment to continuous improvement, our district hosted an External Visitation Team on November 13th & 14th, 2025. Every five years the NDE Rule 10 Accreditation Process requires a team of educators from school districts across Nebraska to spend time in our buildings observing classrooms, visiting with staff, students, and parents, while reviewing our current Action Plan. The purpose of the visiting team is to provide commendations for the positives happening in our schools and recommendations to help guide our next steps for growth. At the end of their visit they provide us with an Exit Presentation and a more detailed Written Exit Report. These results are used to create a new Action Plan aligned with our newly adopted Strategic Plan.
