2004 WHS Graduate Kandyse Maly

Wahoo Public Schools received word yesterday of the tragic loss of another recent graduate.

Kandyse Maly, a member of the WHS Class of 2004, was killed in a single vehicle accident Monday morning in Western Douglas County.

Kandyse was known for her artistic talents. Her creative skills shined in her visual arts courses and in yearbook, where she designed the cover of the 2003-2004 Thunderbird. Kandyse was a kind, helpful and independent spirit. She was viewed as a mentor by younger students.

A young Kandyse in a yearbook senior parent dedication. "...You have always been a bright, content, easy going person, and have always exceeded my expectations. I know that when you graduate and carry on to your next journey in life that you will be just as successful and independent as you were when you were 4. You are and always will be the Angel of my heart," her mother wrote.

I know that when you graduate and carry on to your next journey in life that you will be just as successful and independent as you were when you were 4. You are and always will be the Angel of my heart," her mother wrote.
On her yearbook cover, Kandyse appropriately designed an abstract hourglass as a focus, to go along with the theme of "Our Fraction of Time", encouraging students to make the most of the time they are given. She added the following quote to her cover layout: "Life is played by pinball machine rules. The living must have the will to tilt the hourglass and slow its flow, so that every grain of sand that measures our lives can count for something." No doubt that's how Kandyse lived her life.

During her high school years, Kandyse was involved in dance squad, Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA), Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA), and softball.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 16, at 10:30 a.m. at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church in Weston, NE. An evening service and visitation will be held on Friday, December 15 at the St. John Nepomucene Catholic School gymnasium. The visitation will be 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m., and the Celebration of Life Service will begin at 7:00 p.m.

The thoughts and prayers of everyone associated with the Wahoo Public Schools go out to the family and friends of Kandyse during this very difficult time.
