Freshman Orientation Success
92% Turnout!
The first official event of the new school year -- Freshman Orientation – blasted off the 2010-11 school year with over 92% of the students in the Class of 2014, along with their families, turning out for the event!
National Honor Society and Student Council members were on hand as volunteers throughout the evening to hand out schedules and usher freshmen to their classes.
While students completed their health screenings, had their photos taken, and tested their locker combinations, parents were invited to listen to a “Parents Only” presentation given by Laura Buddenberg of Boys Town that highlighted current information and research on teenagers and what makes them tick.
Freshmen and parents reunited to visit each classroom teacher as part of the “mini-school day.”
At the end of the evening NHS and StuCo members delighted the audience by sauntering down the runway in WHS’s version of high fashion in their Fall 2010 “What Not to Wear” Fashion Show.
School Nurse Mary Specht and WHS Counselor Terry Kopish wish to thank students, parent/guardians, staff and volunteers for their support and ask WHS families to extend their appreciation to the people, businesses and organizations that supported WHS via donations for the drawings that were done at the end of the evening:
