Kids Summer Institute Seeking Instructors for June/July 2010

Current Shortage Threatens to End 25-Year Program

by KSI Coordinator Mary Miller

January 30, 2010

The Kids Summer Institute is an enrichment program held for 6 weeks in June and July for pre-school through 8th grade students throughout Saunders County.

The funding for this program comes from the cooperation of the Wahoo Community Chest and Wahoo Public Schools.

The program has been running for over 25 years, and in these 25 years the student participation and involvement continues to increase; however, we do have a problem that may cause the program to come to an end: WE NEED INSTRUCTORS!

I am looking for people in the area that would like to work with students and share their interests. These interests can be in any area. Some ideas could include: cake decorating, woodworking, painting, crafts, sewing, chess, dance, singing, fabric painting, etc.

The time frame of the classes is up to each instructor. A class could run for one hour for one day, or one hour a day for a week. Instructors will be paid for their services.

If anyone is interested, the summer program begins its planning in January. Please contact Mary Miller at 443-4241 if you are willing to enrich the lives of the youth of Saunders County.
