Certified Positions:

HIGH SCHOOL PRINCIPAL
Wahoo Public Schools is seeking qualified applicants for the position of High School Principal for the 2020-2021 school year. The high school operates in a 1:1 environment, with students utilizing MacBooks and Canvas. Interested individuals should be strong in the areas of leadership, communication, and organization. Applicants must hold or be eligible for a valid Nebraska administrative certificate. ELEMENTARY LIBRARY/MEDIA TEACHER (.5 FTE)
Wahoo Public Schools seeks to hire a part-time Elementary Library/Media Teacher. Ideal candidates will have knowledge and experience with best practices in reading instruction, as well as confidence in using and learning a variety of technology resources. Wahoo Elementary is a 1:1 school, providing a device for each student in the school. Candidates for this position should be comfortable working with the Technology Director and classroom teachers to support technology use; however, the primary goals of the position are to: 1) focus on library and literacy skills through direct instruction, 2) foster a welcoming library environment to inspire students’ natural curiosity, and 3) support the implementation of Nebraska State Standards in the area of reading through collaboration with grade-level PLC teams.

Addition duties may include, but not be limited to:

  • Develop and present direct instruction lessons to students in grades K-5 with paraeducator support.
  • Encourage reading (school-wide) through developing contests and special programs.
  • Assist Reading Intervention Teacher in working with individuals who are having difficulty reading at grade level.
  • Support teachers and students with multimedia equipment to make classes and presentations vibrant and exciting.
  • Help students identify and locate “good fit” books based on reading ability.
  • Support student acquisition of research skills (hard copy and digital resources).
  • Keep detailed inventory of student texts, and increase the number of high interest books to promote motivation to read for pleasure.

Qualifications: Nebraska Department of Education Certification in Elementary Education; endorsement in K-12 Media Specialist preferred, but not expected. ELEMENTARY RESOURCE TEACHER
Wahoo Public Schools seeks to hire an Elementary Resource Teacher for the 2020-2021 school year. The candidate will provide services to elementary students with IEP's, work with paraprofessionals, organize, coordinate, and manage IEP's, communicate with staff, administration, and parents to best meet the needs of all students. Non-Certified Positions:

DIRECTOR OF MAINTENANCE
The Wahoo Public School District is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Director of Maintenance. Interested individuals should be strong in communication and staff management, with preference given to those with knowledge/experience in any of the trades (electrical, plumbing, construction, etc.). Applications may be picked up at the superintendent’s office in the high school, or downloaded at the bottom of this webpage (click "Non-Certified Application"). BUS DRIVERS
Wahoo Public Schools is taking applications for substitute and activity bus drivers. All training and CDL classes for bus drivers will be paid by the district. If hired, you will be required to pass a drug screening and background check.

SUBSTITUTE PARAPROFESSIONALS & KITCHEN HELP
Wahoo Public Schools is seeking substitute paraprofessionals and kitchen help. Interested persons will fill in for a para or cook who is not able to be to work that day. These positions are for substituting only, on days that students are in session. Once a background check has been completed, you will be placed on the call list.

All interested parties should contact the superintendent's office in the high school at 2201 N. Locust, Wahoo, NE 68066 for an application, or scroll to the bottom of this page to download a non-certified application. All applicants are required to fill out a background check form. Completed applications can either be dropped off to the superintendent’s office or emailed to blavaley@wahoowarriors.org.
