Letter from WHS Principal addresses COVID-19 concerns
March 17, 2020
Wahoo High School Families and Students,
I want to first thank you for your patience and continued support throughout this unprecedented time. We have been meeting as a staff trying to navigate these unusual waters, and I can tell you one thing that has been reaffirmed is that Wahoo Public Schools has some of the best educators around. Our students are very lucky to have the teachers and support staff that we do at WPS.
Our high school admin team is working diligently on getting answers to a few major issues. Issues that we are trying to answer include: Grades, E-Learning Opportunities, and Graduation Requirements. Specifically, when it comes to grades we are waiting on guidance and trying to run through all the scenarios for an extended closure. I can honestly tell you that we will approach this issue with the mindset of what is best for students. Graduation is also something that we are monitoring very closely and I don’t think we will have this answer for a few weeks. We will do our best to update our families as answers to these questions come in.
In regards to E-Learning Opportunities, our teaching staff is working this week to provide Enrichment Opportunities through Canvas to each one of our students that will help further their learning. It will be our hope that students will take part in these activities to continue to move forward in their educational journey. Our goal will be to roll out these E-Learning Enrichment Opportunities no later than Monday, March 23, 2020. If you are a parent of a student with an IEP, your student’s case manager will be reaching out to you individually.
Again, this is a very fluid situation and things are changing very rapidly and we will do our best to update you as soon as more information becomes available. Lastly, as we make decisions and follow guidance on this very unique situation, I can say with confidence that will make all decisions based on what’s best for kids.

Welcome to Wahoo High School
It is with great enthusiasm that I welcome you back for the 2019-2020 school year. This new year promises to be filled with many accomplishments by our students and staff. I am excited to embark on this new school year journey with our students and staff. Our students are so lucky to have a dedicated staff that truly puts kids first and cares about each and every one of them.
My hope is that each of you took some time this summer to relax and recharge your batteries. Our focus this year will continue to be relationships and accountability. I believe that we have an opportunity each day to make a difference, which is a big responsibility; however, with positive relationships, our influence on our students can go further than you can even imagine.
As always if you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact my office. I am so excited to get rolling and look forward to an outstanding year.
