Driver training this summer at Wahoo
Teen Driver Education will be taught this summer at Wahoo Public School, 2201 N. Locust St. by instructor Randy Shada. Class time will be from 8 a.m. to 12 noon June 9 - June 13 2003, Monday through Friday. In addition students will receive behind-the-wheel training driving instructions before or after classroom time and/or during weekends. Driving dates and times will be scheduled on the first day of the class. Mr. Shada has 25 years experience in teaching driver's education in Nebraska schools and has joined the Nebraska Safety Council's Driver Education Team.Cancellation Policy: Advance registration is required. Cancellations received five (5) business days prior to the course date will receive a full refund. There will be a 50% charge on late cancellations and rescheduling. Full registration fee will be charged for "No Shows".
Students must be age 14 by October 15 of the current year. A learner's permit is not mandatory, but recommended.
Course curriculum consist of 24 hours of classroom instruction and 5 hours of behind-the-wheel driving. The classroom includes 20 hours of instruction on "How to Drive" and 4 hours of the National Safety Council's "DDC-Allive at 25" program. The driving includes 5 hours of hands-on driving and 5 hours of observation. In addition there is a one half hour Behind-The-Wheel Drive Test for Provisional Operators License (POP). Included in the driving is highway/gravel road driving, parallel/perpendicular/angle parking, marked and unmarked streets/intersections, a DMV Pretest, interstate driving, heavy city traffic driving, and valid test drive.
Note: In order to receive the Provisional Operator's Pemit (POP) waiver form, students must attend all sessions and successfully complete both the classroom and behind-the-wheel training. Should a student fail the behind-the-wheel drive test, they will receive an additional drive test at no charge. After the second drive test, the fee is $30.00 per test.
