Wahoo Families,
Thank you so much for your patience and understanding as we work as a school district and a community to take care of our children and families. Unfortunately, as rapidly as this situation has evolved, we have been working hard to make sure we have all aspects of well-being addressed in a reasonable time and manner, which hasn’t always been as quickly as we hoped. With that said, we have secured funding from the state of Nebraska to be able to offer meal services to any child between the ages of 1-18, residing in the district, for no charge while we are closed due to the COVID-19 response.
We plan to begin offering meals delivered to a pickup point starting Monday, March 23, and will continue everyday that school was scheduled to be in session. In order to be eligible for the meal, we are asking that a parent/guardian contact Colleen Sutton at csutton@wahoowarriors.org with the child’s name and pickup location. This information must be communicated by 7:00 p.m. the night before meals are to be delivered.
Once on the list, the expectation will be to pick up the meal on a daily basis. The child must be present to collect the meal at the requested pickup site and will be marked off by a district representative. The district is responsible for documentation and regulations associated with this grant, so communication from families to Wahoo Public will be especially important.
The location and times for meal deliver/pickup are as follows:
9:00-9:25 a.m. - Wahoo State Bank shed (570 N. Elm St.)
9:45-10:00 a.m. - Weston Post Office
10:15-10:30 a.m. - Malmo Post Office
10:45-11:00 a.m. - Colon Post Office
11:30-11:45 a.m. - Ithaca Post Office
Again, it is imperative that you communicate your child’s name and desired pickup location to Colleen Sutton. In order to provide the best experience for our students, we must be able to plan with complete information for meal preparation and delivery. If you have any further questions concerning this meal program, please contact Superintendent Brandon Lavaley at 402.443.3051 or blavaley@wahoowarriors.org.
Sincerely,
Brandon Lavaley, Superintendent
