The
Andover Reader
"A teacher who attended Alan November's keynote at the 2007
conference went to his web site and found this writing gem that she
uses for writing examples and student inspiration. She likes having
the student examples and 'good leading questions' at the end of the
writing for use in her instruction." --Renee Kopf & Pam

The
Five Paragraph Essay
"Although we don't usually include sites at 'web site warehouses'
and make more of a habit of including ones we find at educational
domains, this site was one that got a mention from many teachers.
English teachers have recommended this site to their colleagues in
social studies who are looking to review expectations for essays
before their first assessment. Although simplistic in nature
without many whistles and bells, this site offers a bare bones
approach to writing an acceptable essay." --Renee Kopf & Pam
Krambeck, NETA News (September 2007)

Fun Brain
A fun site targeted to elementary students, with many fun
interactive review games, including Grammar Gorillas, Translator
Alligator, and Spellaroo, just to name a few.

biographical writing, and the list goes on. Teachers and students
find this simple site a very useful resource." --Renee Kopf &

The
Scriptorium
"Did you know that a scriptorium is a place set aside for writing?
We didn't until navigating to this teacher recommended web site.
Self-described as a 'young writers' resource webzine' this site
adds new 'stuff' every month, and focuses on providing a forum for
young writers." --Renee Kopf & Pam Krambeck, NETA News
(September 2007)

Starfall
(Elementary) "I haven't shown
this web site to a primary teacher that hasn't continued using it
in some capacity. the site is simple to navigate and is aimed at
the primary set--a group that is often neglected when it comes to
web sites. Introduction and reinforcement of letter sounds,
beginning reader activities, calendar activities and just about
every holiday is covered at this web site." --Renee Kopf & Pam
Krambeck, NETA News (February 2007)

Writing Fix
"A self-proclaimed 'One of a kind
site aimed at sparking the imagination of writers, teachers and
students.' I love the interactive writing prompt area at the bottom
of the home page. Along the left side of the page you will find
writing prompts aimed at the six traits of writing and word games
to spark imagination for writing. This is a site that teachers keep
going back to (and they often take their students along for the
ride) again and again." --Renee Kopf & Pam Krambeck, NETA News
(February 2007)
-------------------------

The Writing Fix Focus on
6-Trait Writing
"We mentioned 'Writing Fix' before when spotlighting sites for
language arts but if you dig a bit deeper in the site you will find
the link we have above that deals specifically with the 6-Trait
Writing Process. As one teacher told us, you can't create a list of
great writing sites without including 'Writing Fix!" Primary
teachers have found the link to literature prompts helpful when
lesson planning for writing. The 'revision Post-Its' that are
included for each trait are great. One of the teachers we spoke
with used these as inspiration to create her own prompts using the
drawing tools in MS Word." --Renee Kopf & Pam Krambeck,
