Wahoo Head Start Meets Health Champion Goal!
School & Parents Work Together to Eliminate Barriers to Learning
The rules governing Head Start require that each child enrolled in the program have a current physical exam, a lead level reading and a dental exam on file at Head Start within the first 90 days of school.
The Saunders County Head Start program is celebrating the fact that all 44 enrolled children have met this requirement!
Parents were encouraged to be their child’s “Health Champion” by assuring their child had these important exams so there were no health barriers to their child’s learning. All the Head Start families stepped up to the challenge and met the requirement!!!
Nurse Mary is shown presenting the Health Champion trophy to Mr. Brian, whose classroom was first in having all the needed exams completed and turn in. The Ashland-Greenwood classroom was a very close second.
Nurse Mary congratulates and thanks all parents for their assistance in this important work.
“Making sure children come to school healthy and ready to learn is vital to our school readiness goals,” Nurse Mary said. “We greatly appreciate all the cooperation from parents in meeting this goal.”
