Our History

Wahoo Public Schools has served the Wahoo area for more than 150 years. Established in 1871, the district has evolved from its early schools into the unified PreK–12 campus that serves the community today.

A significant chapter in the district's history began in 1973, when voters approved the construction of a new facility for Wahoo Middle School and Wahoo High School. The new building opened to students in the fall of 1976, establishing the foundation of the secondary campus.

As enrollment and educational needs changed, the district continued to expand and improve its facilities. Today, Wahoo's elementary, middle, and high schools are located together on a single campus, creating a unique educational setting for students from their earliest years through graduation.

Wahoo Public Schools now serves approximately 1,100 students across a 191-square-mile district that includes Wahoo, Colon, Ithaca, Malmo, Swedeburg, and Weston.
