"If we are going to make a difference with today's children, we have to get involved with them as one-to-one mentors." --Dr. Tom Osborne
This simple statement is where it all began. Dr. Tom Osborne saw a need, and he filled it.
In 1991, he started a non-profit organization called TeamMates. TeamMates is a one-to-one mentoring program that matches caring adults in your community with youth in your school. We also call it the "one hour difference," because that is all it takes--one hour per week, at school, during the school day. Today, TeamMates reaches over 5,000 students in Nebraska, Kansas, and Iowa.
If you are interested in becoming a mentor, please contact Kim Homes at 443-1029, or if you know a young child that would love to have a mentor, contact your school guidance counselor (elementary/middle school: Ann Egr; high school: Terry Kopish). Or, go to www.teammates.org for more information.
Follow your heart. Be a leader. Be a TeamMates mentor.
