Class of 1983 Holds 25-Year Reunion
September 05, 2008
The graduating class of 1983 recently held its 25-year class reunion with activities over the weekend of August 29-31.
On Friday, a group of about 15 alumni, spouses and their children gathered at the high school and were led on a tour of the high school/middle school and grade school buildings and grounds by WPS Superintendent Ed Rastovski. The alums were impressed by the changes and additions to the public school, especially since a few haven't returned to the school since graduation.
The group later grew to about 35 alumni and their families for a tailgate party before the football game, which was sponsored by the Athletic Boosters. The group then sat together to watch the Wahoo High football team defeat Omaha Roncalli in their season opening game. After the game the group headed to the Vets Club fundraiser for more reminiscing and hamburgers.
On Saturday, there was a social at the Eagles Club where hors d'oeuvres and dinner were served. A group of 30 gathered at 6:00 p.m., with more joining after the Nebraska Football game. The evening was spent catching up on the events of the past 25 years, and looking at pictures gathered from 2nd grade through high school.
On Sunday, a group of 10 met at the Hilltop Country Club for an afternoon of golf. It was a beautiful day, and all had a good time.
Those gathered for the reunion have decided to try to meet every year from now on, for an informal gathering of families, with a larger event every 5th year. The men of the group also plan to return a team to the next alumni basketball tournament in 2009. Join us there for the fun of it!
